Recital 2020:

“Oh, The Places You’ll Go”

Our 2019-2020 dance season will be one that we will never forget. After rescheduling our recital three times due to the pandemic this year, we then lost our venue. Our team then started working together harder than ever to make our show a safe reality for our dancers. We put our heads together and started throwing out all these creative ideas, feeding off one another. At times, it felt like this show might not work for us this year with all the obstacles that stood in our way, but we knew we couldn’t give up on our dancers, especially when they hadn’t given up on us when they started walking back through our studio doors in June when we reopened.

September 13, 2020 will forever be a day we at Melrose Dance Academy will look back on and smile. The day was just special and felt like it held some kind of magic. It was a day we all came together this crazy year and celebrated what brought us all together in the first place, our love of dance.

Our dancers finally got to experience that excited anticipation they looked forward to since registering for dance classes last September as they put on their costumes that have hung in their closets for months. There was hairspray, bobby pins, glitter, balloons, lipstick, flowers, smiles, and a big beautiful stage. Even Dave Riley of DJ Dave’s Mobile Entertainment, our favorite DJ who has been with us for over 10 years, was there to share in our excitement and provide the tunes. What more could you want on recital day?

We did it!

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”

Oh, The Places You’ll Go, by Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite books because I love the meaningful message about the importance of seizing new opportunities, keeping an open-mind, and trying new things.  Life is certainly jam-packed with unexpected twists and turns, but the excitement and craziness of these experiences is what makes life special and creates long lasting memories, which is what this year and this show is all about.

To our dancers,

We did it!  Your dedication and hard-work this past year is something that is overwhelming to look back on.  During a time when it would have been easy to give up, you kept going.  As you walked back through our studio doors at the beginning of this summer, you adjusted to our new guidelines and kept a smile on your face, filling the space with your happiness and laughter.  I love what I do because of each and every one of you, and that is what has kept me going this past year.  Thank you for loving dance so much.  Your teachers and I could not be more proud of you.

To our staff,

There are not enough words or ways for me to express to all of you how grateful I am that you stuck this season out with me and our dancers.  You are all so amazing and the studio is so lucky to have each of you.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you to everyone who was part of the studio this year in one way or another.  All of your cooperation, love and support is appreciated.  This will definitely be a dance year to remember.

Thank you to my Dad (as always, I couldn’t do this without you), Mom, my Grandparents, & Scott.

xoxo

Miss Amanda
